The YES (Youth
Entertainment Stage) Company,
a performing arts program sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office
of Education, recently announced that YES Ambassadors (a group
composed of YES program alumni) is adding additional repertoire to their
entertainment for events or special celebrations. According to Director
Melanee Wyatt, the students have prepared several performance medleys:
Seussical the Musical, Broadway Classics, Best of Friends, and Let
Freedom Sing. Additionally, a spring storybook play geared for
elementary students based on ‘Daisy Duck is a Caterpillar’ has been
primed. “These new offerings are ideal for elementary schools, after
school programs, and fundraising events,” said Wyatt.
Funded primarily by
donations, YES Company brings over 300 students from diverse backgrounds
together each year, providing them with positive and productive
year-round activities. Students learn valuable character building skills
such as responsibility, discipline, communication and teamwork as they
audition, rehearse, build sets, learn from visiting professionals and
prepare to perform full-scale theatrical productions.
Donations (averaging $250) are requested
for the 15-30 minute presentations.
Early reservations for entertainment
time slots are recommended and can be
booked now.
